I believe IPL is one of the most awaited tournaments every year as it begins, which, this year too is going to take place in the upcoming month of March. However, before IPL, the cricket lovers or we can say the IPL lovers used to get attracted towards the auction which is carried out nearly after 6 months of the tournament. IPL Auction 2025 gained much attention after the event that took place in November this year. Overviews Of IPL Auction 2025

IPL Retention took place on 31 October 2024 before the actual event that took place in November 2024. So far, all the teams have spent over cumulative ₹558.5 crores which adds up to US$65 million. This event retained some of the great players like Rinku Singh and much more at very good prices which we shall discuss in our subsequent blog. Then Virat Kohli became expensive, and they retained him in RCB for 21 crores INR. 

The two-day IPL mega auction was organized on two days in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Auctions are arranged to renew the team formation for the IPL and to fill in the places that were emptied out by the released players. The dates for this event were November 24-25, 2024. An auction enabled the 10 teams to form an ideal squad. As a franchise, it aimed at balanced squads with new leaders. All the teams have a budget of a total of 120 crore to spend on their team, in which they have to retain previous players and purchase some new players.  Here is a brief summary of the 2025 auction:

Key Highlights Of IPL Auction 2025

Here are some key moments of the IPL Auction of 2025 that made that auction more interesting to watch.

• Rishabh Pant became the most expensive player in the history of IPL. He was sold for 27 crore INR to Lucknow Supergiants. Before him, Shreyas Iyer was the one who sold at a very good price to Punjab Kings. 
• In total 72 players were sold in the IPL Auction 2025. In total, the franchise spent approximately 467 crore. 
• Vaibhav Suryavanshi who is just 13 years old has become the youngest ever to be sold in the IPL auction. 
• Players like Trent Boult, Josh Hazlewood, and Jofra Archer were sold for 12.50 crore each. 
• Rinku Singh who was sold for 50.55 crore INR last year was sold for 13 crore INR in the 2025 auction. With this prize money, he became one of the costliest players of the upcoming IPL. 
• The bid of Rinku Singh also sparked controversy. Just because, even after knowing about his preferred team, RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore) his previous team still retained him for a much higher price. 
• The videos of Jahnavi Mehta who is the daughter of famous Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla went viral on the internet.
